Van Driver

The Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical appointments, community outings, shopping trips, and facility-sponsored activities. This position provides courteous, compassionate assistance to residents while ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity during transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate facility-owned vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport residents to medical appointments, therapy visits, community events, and other scheduled destinations.
- Assist residents entering and exiting the vehicle, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices as needed.
- Secure wheelchairs and passenger restraints according to safety standards.
- Maintain transportation schedules and communicate delays or concerns to appropriate staff.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for use.
- Monitor resident safety and comfort during transport.
- Provide friendly, respectful, and professional customer service to residents, families, healthcare providers, and the public.
- Assist with resident activities and special events when transportation duties permit.
- Complete required transportation logs, mileage records, and incident reports.
- Follow all facility policies, resident rights, confidentiality requirements, and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to safely operate passenger vans, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required certifications or training.
- Previous experience working with older adults is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must consent to release a copy of driving record upon hire and annually.
- Must maintain current personal auto insurance coverage.

- Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility needs.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver wheelchairs and mobility equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach frequently throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation
19.50 - 24.50 per hour
