Environmental Services Assistant - Laundry

Position Summary:
North Star Manor is seeking a reliable and dedicated Environmental Services Assistant to join our team. This role is vital to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a heart for service in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping Duties:
Clean and dust resident rooms, restrooms, common areas, storage areas, and offices as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and floors throughout the facility.
Sanitize restrooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, polishing machines, ladders, utility carts, mops, buckets, and appropriate cleaning solutions.
Assist in monitoring inventory and ordering housekeeping supplies as needed.
Laundry Duties:
Sort linens, towels, clothing, and other items by color, size, and material.
Operate commercial laundry equipment while adhering to sanitization protocols.
Fold, hang, and deliver clean items to appropriate locations within the facility.
Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room and ensure equipment is in good working order.
Stock laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, and fabric softener.
Prepare and attach laundry tags with resident-identifiable information to ensure proper handling.
Qualifications:
Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred, especially in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Capable of lifting, bending, standing, and moving for extended periods.
Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a respectful attitude toward residents and staff.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
The individual must be able to successfully pass background checks.
